When we talk about photography composition, like any art composition, it is very personal. It depends on individual preference, and perhaps mood. Nevertheless, there is guidance on which you can use as a photographer. For my opinion, photography rules are something which you need to get along well, get comfortable with, and then explore beyond (read: break) them.
I would like to share, based on my experience, how you can produce great photography composition by some 7 simple steps. These steps can be done by all photographers regardless their experience.
2. Get out of common angle - Anybody with a camera can capture any object from the eye level. Yet only few photographers realize that simply taking photos from low angle creates a stronger effect on the image.
4. Synergize - you don't want to have a truck when your image theme is smiling baby. If possible get rid of any unwanted elements. Otherwise play with the angle so that you don't have disturbance in the frame. Be creative on finding the sweet photography composition.
5. Check and recheck your composition - Do not be satisfied fast. Many times minor unwanted errors may occur, and you realize it when you leave the picture location. Get some shots of the same object from the same position, and make sure you check your image carefully before proceeding to the next one.
6. Practice makes perfect - mastering photography composition is not a one night success. Improve your skill by adding photo hours. Repetition is the mother of skills.
There is no right or wrong at photography composition. You just have to go on with yourself. What makes you comfortable is always right for you. Keep exploring, be creative, stay hungry and stay foolish. The sky is the only limit.
Good luck and have fun!
